Erin Guard: Servant Leadership
Our founder and CEO, Erin Guard, posted her thoughts on servant leadership on LinkedIn yesterday. We thought it would be nice to share those thoughts with our blog audience as well.
A few years ago, I began contemplating the concept of “servant leadership” and decided this was the kind of leader I aspired to be. I even thought I was doing a pretty decent job. Late last year, however, I noticed two things keeping me from being all-in: the utter vulnerability of it and the fact that I’m in a business where success is measured by results. Could the results we and our partners desired be achieved if we were 100% committed to serving others? In my heart, I believed the answer was yes. And, I was terrified nonetheless. Going into this year, I decided to be all-in and let the chips fall where they may. Oh, the things we’ve learned along the way! It’s been quite a journey; one that continues to evolve.
