ERP Readiness Series: 7 People You Need on Your Team

Introduction to ERP Readiness

ERP Readiness: The people you'll need to implement an ERP solution. What is ERP Readiness? It boils down to one question. Is your company ready to implement a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution or upgrade an existing one? To answer that question, you must consider the readiness of your people, your business processes, and your systems and technology.

When considering whether the people in your organization are ready to take on an ERP  (or any) change initiative, there are a number of things to consider:

  • How has the organization responded to change in the past?
  • What are the roles and responsibilities required to select and implement a new ERP solution?
  • Which roles are best filled by in-house personnel versus those that might be best filled by temporary, outside staff?
  • Internally, who has the skills and time to fill the necessary roles?

In this series of blog posts, we’re going to discuss the roles and responsibilities required by an ERP initiative for small or mid-sized companies. Along the way, we’ll highlight whether these roles are best served in-house or could be outsourced.

Roles and Responsibilities

In our experience, organizations find the greatest success when they properly staff seven distinct roles during any ERP solution change initiative:

Each role has specific responsibilities. In this series we will spend time discussing the responsibilities of each role, starting with the Executive Sponsor in our next post.
