I love talking about morning habits, because they have such massive impact on how we manage our time and energy. As leaders, how we begin our morning impacts how we run our business, guide our people, and manage our personal energy and cognitive capacity.

A journalist from Financial Management Magazine reached out to me recently about an article he was writing around morning habits that help achieve strategic impact, and I was happy to share my thoughts. Here were my high-level insights:

  • Be intentional about how you spend your time.
  • Monitor your energy to focus on strategic thinking and slow work in high-energy times, which more than likely occur in the earlier morning hours.
  • Manage your morning to stay grounded and focused throughout the day (for me, a good morning involves exercise, coffee, prioritization, and meditation)
